Anthropic is testing a new update for Claude that will allow the chatbot to automatically generate interactive visuals, charts, and diagrams for select queries. The custom visuals are designed to help users better understand topics and will appear inline within a response.
Examples shared by Claude include a map to help decide career options based on interests, a diagram showing how load is distributed across a building’s structure, and an interactive periodic table that provides details about an element when you click it.
I put Claude’s new feature to the test by asking it to provide a step-by-step guide to replacing the RAM on a Windows PC. In response, the chatbot generated about seven swipeable cards. Each one explained the action I needed to take and included an image highlighting the component involved in that step. I could click Next to move to the next step, and Back to revisit the last one.

Though the images are created in real time, they are temporary. “They change or disappear as the conversation evolves,” Anthropic says.
Once Claude has prepared a chart or a diagram, you can also ask it to make some improvements. What makes this more interesting is that you can edit statistical data within an interactive chart. For example, when I asked the chatbot about the consequences of being late on my taxes, it generated a chart with an input box to enter the taxable amount and a slider to adjust the number of days overdue. The chart adjusted itself as I made changes to the data.

While the feature is playful and visually appealing, the chatbot’s responses may still require human verification.
The tool is enabled by default, but is still in beta. All users, including those on the free tier, can give it a shot right now. The chatbot creates these visuals when it determines that a query requires them. In any case, you can directly prompt it to generate a chart, visual, or diagram.
