And when you recognize what he has endured in his non-public life, his irrepressibly sunny perspective is all of the extra astonishing. “Marty: Life Is Brief,” a hilarious and heartbreaking Netflix documentary, tells of the non-public tragedies that Brief has endured since childhood – and the way he has risen above them.
